Kolkata: A traffic police constable on school duty was allegedly assaulted by a motorcyclist during a no-parking enforcement drive in Behala on Wednesday morning. Police said the rider also smashed the constable’s govt-issued body camera.The incident took place around 6:50 am in front of Ritam Vidyapith on Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, where the constable was deployed to manage morning traffic and remove illegally parked vehicles outside the school. The constable had stopped the motorcyclist for violating the one-way rule and parking his bike near the school in a no-parking zone. When the constable tried to penalise the rider, he allegedly turned aggressive, assaulted him and damaged his body camera.The injured constable, a resident of Biswanathpur at Dhantala in Nadia, lodged a complaint at the Behala PS, following which a case was registered against the unidentified biker. Police are checking CCTV footage from the area and using local sources to identify the motorcyclist.
