Rajkot: Rajkot remained the hottest weather station in Gujarat on Thursday, recording a scorching 42.4°C, even as maximum temperatures dipped slightly by one or two degrees across the state. Nine cities recorded temperatures above 40°C, indicating persistent heatwave conditions.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a marginal dip of 1-2 degrees is expected due to a Western Disturbance over Pakistan. However, maximum temperatures are likely to remain above 40°C in isolated pockets of Gujarat until May 4.Surendranagar followed Rajkot closely at 42.0°C, while Ahmedabad recorded 41.7°C. Gandhinagar registered 41.0°C.Other hotspots included Amreli (40.7°C), Bhavnagar (40.4°C) and Vallabh Vidyanagar (40.3°C). Deesa and Bhuj also touched 40°C, reflecting widespread high temperatures across the state.
