Mumbai: A 24-hour water shutdown will affect supply in parts of Chembur, Govandi and Mankhurd from 10am on Sept 29 to 10am the next day with the BMC commissioning a new water tunnel to improve the distribution network in M-East and M-West wards.Following the shutdown, residents in the affected areas are likely to receive water at low pressure for the next seven days. The BMC has advised residents to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly during the period.In M-East ward, the affected areas include Lallubhai Compound, Shivajinagar, Washinaka, Mankhurd, Govandi, Bainganwadi, Bharat Nagar, Cheetah Camp, Deonar village and colony, Rafiq Nagar, Mandala, Padma Nagar, Vishnu Nagar, Maharashtra Nagar, Indian Oil Nagar and parts of the refinery area along BD Patil Marg.In M-West ward, the disruption will cover large parts of Chembur, including Maitri Park, Ghatla, Chembur Gaothan, Subhash Nagar, Suman Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Sindhi Camp, Chembur Camp, Gandhi Market, Central Avenue Road, RC Marg, Mahul village, Wadala, Vashi Naka, Bhakti Park, Sahakar Nagar, Shell Colony and areas around PL Lokhande Marg.Several institutional and industrial establishments, including BPCL, Mazagon Dock, Tata Power, Aegis Ltd and BPT are also listed among the affected areas.
