Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday advised ministers Agnimitra Pal and Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay to focus on their departmental responsibilities from their offices instead of excessive street activism, sources said. The advice was given during a cabinet meeting at Nabanna. He also asked the ministers to concentrate on administrative work within their departments, sources said.Pal, the urban development and municipal affairs minister, and health minister Mukhopadhyay have been making frequent public appearances and have undertaken activities outside their departments. Pal’s interventions have come in cases of footpath encroachment, lack of road safety and mismanagement of market space. Videos of her exchanges with vegetable sellers and a woman boiling milk on a pavement went viral.Mukhopadhyay stepped up public outreach and made surprise visits to markets and hospitals.
