New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a pilot drone-based GIS and 3D digital survey to modernise property tax assessment and improve the accuracy of property records, officials said Tuesday.The first phase will cover Rohini F Ward in Rohini Zone and Gharoli Ward in Shahdara South Zone. The survey will use drone imaging, aerial surveys, LiDAR mapping, GIS technology, AI/ML analytics, geo-tagging and 3D modelling to create an integrated property database.“The survey will help identify unassessed and under-assessed properties, duplicate or incorrectly mapped records, and additional floors or constructions missing from existing records. It will also enable comparison of declared and actual built-up areas and ensure more uniform assessment based on built-up area, number of floors and property use,” an official said.The initiative is aimed at reducing reliance on manual inspections and improving transparency in property taxation, the official added.
