Ahmedabad: Citing security concerns, city police commissioner has declared a 20m area outside the compound wall of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Coastal Security office as a no-parking zone.The order covers the stretch on the western side of the ATS building towards SG Highway, from the Nirma University wall to Shilp building. It also includes the southern side of the premises, extending from Shilp building to Ganesh Housing building towards Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University Road.According to the police order, the ATS and Coastal Security office handles sensitive operations related to counter-terrorism, illegal arms, narcotics, fake Indian currency notes, organised crime and gangs. The office has also been declared a restricted place by Gujarat govt.The no-parking restriction will come into effect from midnight on Wednesday and will remain subject to the maximum permissible period under the Gujarat Police Act.Govt vehicles deployed on official duty, fire brigade vehicles and ambulances have been exempt from the restriction.
