New Delhi: Investigators probing the murder of Yuvraj Singh Manchanda, a project manager with Adani Realty, are exploring whether his former colleague Anya Vats and her partner, Sanyam Sachdeva, had allegedly planned to dupe him after learning about his financial status, police sources said.According to police, Manchanda and Vats had worked together at a real estate developer from 2019-2022. Vats was subsequently removed from the organisation over alleged financial irregularities, the sources said. Investigators are now examining her renewed contact with Manchanda in Dec last year and the circumstances in which the two reconnected.“We suspect that she may have come to know about Yuvraj’s lifestyle and that he was earning well,” a police source said.The investigators are probing whether the couple allegedly intended to target Manchanda financially and whether they followed a modus operandi they had previously used against others known to them.The cops have also gathered details of an alleged cheating case involving the duo and a former schoolmate of Sachdeva. According to investigators, the man was allegedly duped of more than Rs 1.2 crore after he received a fabricated ED notice. A cheating case in connection with the alleged fraud was registered at Parliament Street police station in Aug.Police are also examining allegations that the accused used fabricated notices purportedly issued in the name of Union home ministry. The notices allegedly referred to fictitious cases under laws including the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), allegedly to intimidate the victim into transferring money.
