Gurgaon: A Class 7 student was attacked by a pit bull in B Block of NIT-3 on Saturday evening, leaving him with 16 bite wounds on his hands, legs and other parts of his body.The boy, identified as Granth, had gone out on his bicycle and stopped near a house to speak to a friend when the pit bull, owned by the house owner, Om, suddenly came out and attacked him, according to his father Jitendra.In his complaint, Jitendra, who runs a food cart near BK Chowk, said the dog continued biting his son as he screamed for help. He alleged that the owner did not intervene to stop the attack. Neighbours rushed to the spot on hearing the boy’s cries, and the dog was separated from him after a crowd gathered.The family took Granth to BK Hospital, where doctors gave him first aid and referred him for further treatment. He was subsequently taken to a private hospital and is now recovering at home.Jitendra later submitted a complaint at the NIT-3 police post seeking action. Police post in charge Manoj said the complaint had been received and the matter was being investigated. Police are expected to verify the circumstances of the attack and examine the family’s allegations against the dog’s owner.The officer added, however, that the two families were mediating among themselves, and no case had been registered so far.
