55-year-old man slain over land dispute; two from Navi Mumbai arrested
Two Panvel residents have been arrested by the Khalapur police over the alleged death of a Khalapur resident, Laxman Dukare (55), on Saturday. The victim had a land dispute with his sister Rohini Patil. She and another accused Dipak Patil had allegedly physically assaulted the victim on Sept 16. Dukare was declared dead after being rushed to the govt rural hospital.

Navi Mumbai: Two Panvel residents have been arrested by the Khalapur police over the alleged death of a Khalapur resident, Laxman Dukare (55), on Saturday. The victim had a land dispute with his sister Rohini Patil. She and another accused Dipak Patil had allegedly physically assaulted the victim on Sept 16. Dukare was declared dead after being rushed to the govt rural hospital.Rohini and one of her relatives, Dipak, had reached the field-shed on Saturday morning. The land dispute escalated between them. Laxman was a resident of Aasre village in Khalapur while Rohini is a resident of Narpoli, Panvel. Rohini and Dipak allegedly physically assaulted Laxman and pushed him. Dukare fell down and sustained injuries. His son Jayendra was beaten up by the accused duo while he was attempting to save his father. The victim’s wife and complainant’s wife were also verbally abused and assaulted. After the post-mortem was conducted, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family members and relatives. Jayendra had lodged the formal police complaint. Further investigation is on. The duo has been booked under sections of the BNS for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult and common intention.
