Bengaluru: Karnataka could attract over Rs 15,000 crore in investment and more than 2,000 jobs after talks with over 20 companies at Semicon India 2026 in New Delhi, industries minister MB Patil, who is attending the event, said Saturday. Lam Research has announced a Rs 9,298 crore investment, while Applied Materials plans to invest Rs 3,600 crore over 10 years.Lam will get 73 acres at Adinarayanahosahalli in Doddaballapura taluk for the country’s first silicon-component facility, creating over 1,000 direct jobs. “The foundation stone for the facility will be laid shortly, and it is expected to commence operations within one-and-a-half years,” Patil said. Applied Materials will get 140 acres at Bengaluru Signature Business Park, with over 1,000 jobs.In Bengaluru, Samsung India has launched its Innovation Campus programme to train 2,000 youth aged 18-25 in industry-relevant, hands-on AI skills, with Nrupathunga University, Bengaluru, the company said Saturday. Higher education minister Basavaraj Rayareddi attended the launch with academicians recently. “Such collaborations between academia and industry can equip our students with the capabilities they need to participate meaningfully in the opportunities being created by emerging technologies,” Rayareddi said.
