Thane: One person was killed and another critically injured after their two-wheeler collided with a container near Kharegaon Toll Naka in Thane on Friday evening.The accident occurred around 5.10 pm at a turn from Nashik Road towards Kalwa-Mumbra. The deceased was identified as Ajay Chauhan (42), a resident of Gholai Nagar, while the injured man was identified as Sridal Chauhan (32), also a resident of the same area.According to preliminary information, the two-wheeler collided with a container while negotiating the turn. Ajay died on the spot, while Sridal suffered serious injuries. He was initially rushed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa and was later shifted to JJ Hospital for further treatment.The container driver, identified as Baban Dongre, was detained by the police following the accident.A police officer said the accident occurred at a blind spot on the turn, where visibility for motorists is limited. Kalwa police and traffic department officials reached the spot and conducted a panchnama. Police are investigating the exact circumstances leading to the collision.
