Rajkot: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajkot seized close to 500kg of suspected adulterated ghee during a raid at Volga Ghee Depot on Kevdawadi Main Road under Bhaktinagar police station limits.SOG police inspector N B Chaudhary said the team had received information that trader Keval Chandrani was allegedly mixing soybean oil, vanaspati ghee and dairy ingredients to prepare ghee, which was then packed and sold under different labels.Police recovered stickers bearing names such as “Pure Buffalo Ghee from Jamkhambhaliya” and “Gaushala Pure Desi Cow Ghee”, along with a price list showing rates of Rs 400 to Rs1,799 per litre. Material worth Rs 2.83 lakh was seized and a station diary entry was made at Bhaktinagar police station.The Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s food department collected six samples, including loose ghee, Homemade Cow Ghee, Gaushala Pure Desi Cow Ghee and Kamdhenu Premium Ghee. The samples have been sent for laboratory testing.
