Itanagar: CM Pema Khandu on Thursday said the state govt did not resort to forceful deployment of arms or security forces in connection with the proposed 11,000 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP).Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event, Khandu urged individuals and civil society organisations opposing the project to approach the administration for dialogue and clarification.“Differences and apprehensions surrounding the project should be addressed through constructive discussions rather than confrontation. The govt remains fully open to clarifying doubts and addressing every concern raised by the people,” Khandu said.Responding to reports of security personnel being deployed at PFR survey and drilling sites, Khandu said the administration had not used coercion or forceful military deployment to push the project forward.Khandu also said he would soon visit Siang and Upper Siang districts to meet residents, village elders and anti-dam groups. He urged all stakeholders to participate in the consultations and present their concerns directly to the state govt.
