Dibrugarh: Security forces seized 244.65 grams of heroin worth an estimated Rs 1.22 crore and detained two people during a joint operation at Burma Camp in Ledo, Tinsukia, on Wednesday.The operation was conducted by Tinsukia Police, in coordination with the 20 Assam Rifles, following specific intelligence inputs about the movement of narcotics in the area.“The operation was carried out on the basis of specific source information. The heroin was recovered from 20 soap boxes and the seized contraband has been valued at around Rs 1.22 crore,” Ledo police outpost in-charge Roshan Thapa said.The detained persons have been identified as Aaccho Wanchu and Zameer Ali. They, along with the seized narcotics and other items, were handed over to Ledo police station for further legal proceedings.The seizure comes amid continued efforts by Assam Police and security forces to curb trafficking and distribution of narcotics in the state.
