Narnaul: A head constable posted in Narnaul has been suspended after a medical examination confirmed alcohol consumption, following allegations by residents that he was also involved in selling narcotics, including “chitta”.The drug-peddling allegations are under investigation and police said no conclusive evidence has emerged so far.The issue arose on Tuesday evening when residents of Bade Mohalla gathered outside Narnaul City police station around 8pm, alleging that HC Sanjay was drunk and involved in drug peddling. The protest lasted around 40 minutes.Police station in-charge Virendra Singh told the protesters that the head constable regularly visited the locality to buy milk and had gone there on Tuesday for the same purpose. He also alleged that some protesters had consumed alcohol and said they should undergo medical tests if the policeman was examined.Senior police officers subsequently ordered Sanjay’s medical examination.DSP Bharat Bhushan said the report was positive for alcohol consumption. “Considering the seriousness of the matter, we got the employee medically examined. His report came positive. He has been suspended for the time being and an inquiry has been initiated,” he said.
