Ahmedabad: Wednesday was like any other workday for a Vejalpur couple, until their phone rang. Their teenaged daughter had called them in panic to say that a man was standing outside their door with a knife and banging on the door, demanding to speak with her. The girl had allegedly ended her relationship with the accused about a month ago but he continued to stalk and harass her.The police complaint, filed by the girl’s 39-year-old mother, states that she and her husband work as caretakers at a residential property and are usually away during the day. On the day of the incident, their daughter and son were alone at home when the accused arrived late in the morning.Panicked, the girl called her mother, saying the man was outside the house with a knife and insisting she come out and talk to him. The parents rushed back and found their daughter shaken.The girl informed them that she had known the accused for nearly two years through a common acquaintance, and the two had been in a relationship. However, she ended all contact about a month ago due to his aggressive behaviour. “Since then, he was repeatedly pressuring her to resume the relationship, stopping her on the way and calling her from different numbers, while also issuing threats and using abusive language,” she told police.The family stated that they had earlier approached the accused’s parents, who had assured them that such behaviour would not be repeated. However, the harassment allegedly continued. Following the latest incident, the woman approached Vejalpur police along with her daughter and husband, seeking legal action. Police have initiated a probe and are verifying the allegations.
