Jalalabad: A grenade attack was behind Sunday’s explosion at the Jalalabad City police station in Punjab’s Fazilka district, police said on Monday after arresting two suspects. The duo, identified as Gurpreet Singh of Hazara Ram Singh Wala village and Manpreet Singh of Ghubaya, allegedly arrived at the police station on foot, hurled a hand grenade around 2am and fled, Ferozepur Range deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Snehdeep Sharma told the media. The blast damaged the windshields of two old cars parked on the premises, though no injuries were reported. Not ruling out the involvement of Pakistani intelligence agencies, the DIG said the accused were promised a “small sum of money“ to spread terror in the area but had not yet received payment.According to police, five individuals were involved in the plot. The grenade supplier and two other absconding accomplices have been identified and raids are underway to apprehend them, police said.
