Guwahati: Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Rangia, took on panchayat roles at a Model Youth Gram Sabha organised under the Mera Yuva Bharat initiative.The programme, held under the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports, familiarised students with the Panchayati Raj system and highlighted the role of young people in nation-building and Viksit Bharat @ 2047.“The Gram Sabha witnessed active participation of 29 students from Class IX and X who enacted as sarpanch, ward members, panchayat secretary and youth representatives. The role of sarpanch was played by Sahaj Goyal of Class X, who conducted the entire proceedings with great confidence,” school principal Anjana Wadhwa said.“Students discussed burning rural issues like Nasha Mukt Bharat, Swachh Bharat, Digital Literacy, Women Empowerment, and Skill Development. They also proposed youth-led solutions for village development,” she added.Rangia MLA Bhabesh Kalita was the chief guest, while Rangia co-DC Nabajit Pathak was the guest of honour and zila parishad chairman Nipan Bhuyan was the special guest.Addressing the participants, Kalita said, “The youth of today are not just the future; they are the present of the nation. Such Gram Sabhas will prepare them to become responsible citizens and leaders of Viksit Assam and Viksit Bharat.”Kalita later presented prizes to the three best speakers for their performance and clarity of thought.
