Lucknow: A sub-inspector posted at Banthra police station was suspended late Thursday after a BJP booth-level chief accused him and another policemen of forcibly entering his house, assaulting family members and threatening him at gunpoint following a dispute over an egg stall near two temples in Khasarwara village.The controversy erupted on Wednesday night and sparked protests by villagers, who blocked the Bani-Mohanlalganj Road demanding action against the police personnel involved.Taking serious note of allegations of negligence and misconduct, DCP South Mohammed Mushtaq suspended the sub-inspector. A departmental probe has been assigned to the Additional DCP South, Vasanth Kumar Rallapalli and officials said further action would depend on the inquiry findings.According to the complaint, BJP booth chief Arvind Rawat got into an argument with the SI around 8.30 pm on Sept 9 over an egg stall operating near the Shani Dev and Hanuman temples. Rawat alleged that the SI, his father and brother, assaulted him, abused him and threatened to kill him.Rawat claimed he approached Banthra police station and submitted a written complaint but was sent back after being assured of an inquiry. Later that night, police allegedly visited his residence after receiving a counter-complaint from the other side.Rawat alleged that around 11 pm, the SI and other policemen arrived at his house and assaulted his brother Narendra. He further claimed that when Narendra’s wife tried to intervene, she was kicked in the abdomen. Rawat also alleged that the SI pointed a pistol at his temple and later entered the house of Om Prakash while chasing Narendra, assaulting him as well.
