Panaji: IIM Nagpur’s Council for Logistics, Infrastructure, and Project Management signed an MoU with the PWD on Wednesday, in the presence of road transport minister Nitin Gadkari. Chief minister Pramod Sawant said the MoU will lead to a study, with a report expected within six months, aimed at decongesting key junctions and reducing road accidents in Goa.Sawant said the study will focus on some of Panaji’s busiest junctions, including the KTC bus stand, Divja Circle, and the Margao junction.He also said PWD minister Digambar Kamat and tourism minister Rohan Khaunte will lead traffic on the new six-lane Porvorim highway corridor on Sep 11 at 4pm.“We have kept highway toll from being implemented in Goa, and hopefully we will keep it this way with Gadkari’s support,” Sawant said.The Union minister urged the state to develop model green highways in Goa with quality landscaping. “Ethics, ecology, environment are the pillars of good governance,” he said.Khaunte said the Porvorim project work was executed in a way that ensured traffic continued to move and did not stagnate. Kamat said the Porvorim corridor was opened, as promised, to ease traffic during Ganesh Chaturthi.
