Gurgaon: A man was killed after an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle near the IFFCO Chowk highway flyover early Monday morning. The driver fled the spot after the accident, police said.The victim, Govind, a native of Nepal, was returning to his rented accommodation in Sarhol, Sector 18, after travelling from Phase 2 when the accident took place. He was riding a Hero motorcycle bearing registration number MH-01-DD-1033.According to the complaint filed by his brother-in-law, Hariprasad, Govind was near the IFFCO Chowk highway flyover when an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle. The vehicle did not stop and fled from the spot.“Govind sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was rushed to Max Hospital in Sector 29, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police received information about the incident around 5 am on Monday and reached the hospital,” a police officer said.Hariprasad, who had reached the hospital after being informed about the accident, subsequently approached Sector 29 police station and submitted a complaint seeking action against the unidentified driver.Police registered a case under sections 106 (death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 29 police station and initiated an investigation. “We are examining the circumstances of the accident and efforts are underway to identify the vehicle and trace its driver,” the officer added.The body was taken up for necessary legal proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).In another accident, a 40-year-old tailor died after an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle near Signature Tower on Monday morning.Police have registered an FIR against the unknown driver and are scanning CCTV footage to identify the vehicle.The deceased, Surendra Diwakar, a native of Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh, had been living as a tenant with his wife and children in Sector 5 for the past nine to 10 years. He worked at Star Tower in Sector 40.According to the complaint filed by his brother-in-law Jitendra Kumar, Surendra was riding his black Passion Pro motorcycle (UP 27 AV 6711) to work around 10 am on Monday when an unknown vehicle hit him near Signature Tower. “He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the govt hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him brought dead,” a police officer said.Police said the family was informed about the accident and efforts were made to trace his relatives. “Jitendra later reached the police station and inspected the accident spot. He also checked CCTV footage from the area, which showed a black Toyota vehicle hitting Surendra’s motorcycle. The registration number of the car could not be ascertained,” the officer added.Based on the complaint, the brought-dead memo and preliminary investigation, police registered a case under Sections 106 (death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 40 police station.The investigating team is now examining CCTV footage from other locations to establish the vehicle’s registration number and trace its driver, it added.The body was preserved at the Gurgaon mortuary and will be handed over to the family after the necessary legal formalities and postmortem.
