Chandigarh: The city witnessed five separate incidents of snatching, attempted robbery and burglary between Monday night and Tuesday, keeping police o their toes. No arrests had been made till the filing of the report.In two incidents, women were targeted by motorcycle-borne snatchers. Near the Sector 7 police beat box, two helmeted men allegedly snatched a gold chain weighing around one tola from the wife of a cook employed at an IAS officer’s residence. In another case, a govt school teacher was robbed of a gold chain with a diamond pendant near her home in Sector 46.A woman cyclist in Sector 38 also reported that two scooter-borne men stole her purse containing cash, documents and a mobile phone from her bicycle basket.In another case, a Rewari resident alleged that two men assaulted him and attempted to rob him of his phone and purse near the Sector 31/29-Industrial Area roundabout.In another case,burglars broke into a locked house in Sector 22-C and allegedly stole Rs 50,000 cash and gold ornaments. Police are examining CCTV footage in all cases.
