Lucknow: Three members of a family, including a couple and their 20-year-old son, were killed after a speeding school bus collided with their motorcycle near Alipur market in Sultanpur’s Akhandnagar area on Tuesday.Ajay, 20, died on the spot, while his father Ram Lavt, 55, and mother Durgawati, 50, succumbed to their injuries during treatment at Ambedkar Nagar district hospital.According to the police, Ram, a resident of Alipur village, was travelling with his wife and son when a bus belonging to Shivrat Singh Academy Children School struck their bike. The impact was so severe that Ajay died at the scene, while Ram and Durgawati were rushed to Ambedkar Nagar district hospital in critical condition.However, no student in the bus was injured. The school bus driver fled the spot after the accident. Police reached the scene after receiving information and sent the bodies for postmortem examination.Akhandnagar SHO Dhirendra Kumar Verma said the circumstances leading to the accident were being investigated and efforts were underway to establish the identity and whereabouts of the bus driver.Circle officer Kadipur Vinay Gautam said the police were obtaining a complaint from the bereaved family and that further legal action would be taken based on it.The couple has four daughters — Shivangi, 22, Priya, 17, Nandini, 15, and Riya, 13. The death of three members in a single accident has left the family devastated.
