JAISALMER: The bilateral air exercise ‘Veer Guardian-2026’ between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) is set to commence on Wednesday, September 9, at Air Force Station Jodhpur and adjoining areas.The exercise will continue until September 22, 2026.Officials said the Indian Air Force will participate with a diverse mix of frontline combat aircraft, including the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Su-30MKI and Rafale. The JASDF will participate with its F-2A fighter aircraft.During the 14-day exercise, participating air warriors will undertake advanced operational missions and engage in extensive professional interactions.The programme will include mission-planning conferences, subject matter expert exchanges, and interactions between personnel on engineering and aerospace safety, fostering greater operational synergy between the two air forces.Exercise Veer Guardian-2026 reflects the deepening strategic partnership between India and Japan by enhancing tactical proficiency and aerospace operational synergy.The exercise also reaffirms the longstanding bonds of friendship and strategic cooperation between the two nations.Officials said senior leadership from both sides is also likely to participate in the exercise.The presence of the Chiefs of the two air forces, along with other senior officials, would underline the strategic importance of the engagement and the expanding defence partnership between India and Japan.The first edition of Veer Guardian was held in Japan in January 2023. Hosting the second edition in India marks another step forward in the growing defence relationship between New Delhi and Tokyo.
