Gurgaon: A 55-year-old man died on Tuesday, six days after he suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run accident near the Vatika Chowk underpass on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR).The accident occurred late on April 22, when Hukam Singh, a housekeeping worker, was riding his motorcycle with his friend, Rakesh Kumar. According to Singh’s complaint at Badshahpur police station, they were travelling from Sunday Hotel towards Vatika Business Park for work at around 11.45pm.As they approached Vatika Chowk, Singh said he moved outward instead of entering the underpass, when an unidentified car rammed their motorcycle from behind. Both riders were thrown onto the road, while the driver fled the scene. The vehicle’s registration number could not be noted.While Singh sustained minor injuries, Kumar, a resident of Tajpur village in Mahendragarh district, suffered critical injuries and was admitted to Park Hospital in Sector 47. He worked as a security guard in a private company in Gurgaon.Police said the hospital informed them about the injured man’s admission around 2am on April 23. Doctors declared him unfit to give a statement at the time.Kumar succumbed to his injuries during treatment at around 2am on April 28.Based on Singh’s complaint and medical records, police registered a case under Sections 281, 125(A) and 106 of BNS.
