Ahmedabad: A Rajasthan police constable posted as a commando was among two men arrested with 205g of mephedrone, worth Rs 6.14 lakh, near Mehsana railway station on Monday.The accused were identified as Bhikharam Sihol (46), of Rajasthan, and Suraj Rajpurohit (27) of Ahmedabad. Police said Sihol was serving as a police constable (commando) at the Commando Training School in Mandore, Jodhpur, while Rajpurohit was involved in the travel business. The duo have been booked under the NDPS Act.The arrests followed surveillance by joint teams of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force’s Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad zones in the Mehsana railway station area. Acting on a tip-off, the teams learnt that Sihol would arrive with MD and meet Rajpurohit, who was expected to come in an Aura car to collect the consignment.The teams kept watch near a mobile shop opposite the railway station and intercepted the two men along with the car. A search led to the recovery of 205g of mephedrone, valued at Rs 6.1 lakh, police said.Investigators also found an official Rajasthan Police identity card with Sihol.The operation resulted in the seizure of the drugs, the Aura car valued at Rs 5 lakh and three mobile phones, taking the total value of the seized items to Rs 11.3 lakh.During questioning, Sihol allegedly told investigators that he had purchased the mephedrone from Prakash Dhaka, a resident of Bhadasiya in Jodhpur. Police said Sihol allegedly paid Rs 1.3 lakh in cash for the consignment.According to investigators, Sihol then asked Rajpurohit to bring his car to Mehsana to transport the drug. Police are now looking for Dhaka, who has been named as the alleged supplier.The case has been handed over to the Ahmedabad zone of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force for further investigation.
