Chennai: Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin alleged that chief minister C Joseph Vijay was levelling baseless allegations on DMK, while evading questions raised against his govt. Udhayanidhi also condemned speaker J C D Prabhakar for not allowing him to speak in the assembly.“I posed 15 questions on Thursday. We thought he would come well prepared. Instead, he delivered a script as if he were taking part in a recital competition. As I said on Thursday, his speech was full of punch dialogues, reel and cinema content,” he said after staging a walkout from the House.He said the CM was resorting to diversionary tactics by speaking about MISA and Sarkaria Commission instead of responding to law and order issues ‘caused by TVK functionaries’ now.“Someone who chose to wait at Kodanadu just to get his movie released, has not moral right to speak about MISA,’’ he said, referring to purported attempts by Vijay to meet late chief minister J Jayalalithaa.Udhayanidhi said Sarkaria commission allegations were unsubstantiated and that people had supported DMK even after the report. He also took a dig at Vijay for mentioning late chief minister J Jayalalithaa while taking about corruption. “Everyone knows which CM was convicted in a corruption case and sentenced to jail while in power,” he said.Noting that the ED letter, which Vijay read out, contained ‘mere allegations,’ Udhayanidhi said Vijay too was facing an income tax case for “concealing ₹15 cr in income.’’“Vijay has inducted AIADMK leaders facing corruption charges into TVK. He has no moral right to speak about corruption,” Udhayanidhi said.He said there were irregularities in the mining sector and alleged that Vijay’s close associate Vishnu Reddy, his relatives and friends were controlling mines. Udhayanidhi said he would soon release evidence to substantiate the allegations.He then alleged that the assembly speaker was acting in a “biased” manner by denying the Opposition an opportunity to respond to Vijay’s “baseless charges.”
