Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad City Tennis Foundation (ACTF) in Navrangpura will host the ITF J30 tennis tournament from Monday, Gujarat State Tennis Association (GSTA) said. Matches will be played on nine hard synthetic courts.Players from India, the USA, China, Australia, the UK and Korea will participate, GSTA secretary said.Ahmedabad’s Om Patel is the top seed and Maharashtra’s Pradnyesh Shelke the second seed in the boys’ category. Vadodara’s Shaivi Patel is the top seed and Mariya Patel the second seed in the girls’ category.Tournament director Ranjit Thakor said, “Our aim is not to host one good tournament and stop there. We want Ahmedabad to become a strong destination for junior tennis and create more opportunities for our young players to compete at international standards.”Eight wild cards have been awarded to Gujarat players, with two main-draw and two qualifying places each in the boys’ and girls’ categories. tnn
