Guwahati: A man allegedly attacked a homeowner after entering his house in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area on Sunday, police said.The incident took place at House No. 8 in Anupam Nagar, between Hatigaon and Sijubari, Hatigaon police station OC Anjad Brahma said.“The incident took place at the residence of Muktadir Rahman. The miscreant entered the house and attacked Rahman before fleeing the area. We have launched a manhunt for him and are examining the CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to trace his movements. We hope to apprehend him soon. We have identified the suspect, but his name cannot be disclosed at this stage as the investigation is still underway,” Brahma said.He said Rahman’s family claimed that the suspect was carrying a knife and was known to them.Rahman suffered a head injury and was taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment.Rahman’s wife said the suspect cut off the house’s electricity supply before attacking him.“After the lights went out, Rahman went outside to check if other houses in the area had power. When he went outside, he saw a man standing there. He then tried to close the gate so that the person could not escape. While he was trying to close the gate, the man attacked him from behind with a sharp weapon. The weapon struck him, causing heavy bleeding. By the time we went to help him, the thief had already fled. The neighbours went after him to try to catch him, but they could not,” said Rahman’s wife while speaking to the media.
