Strict watch keeps unfair means at bay in UP home guards exam; several arrests

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board successfully conducted the Home Guards Enrolment-2025 written exam across the state on Apr 25, 26 and 27, with authorities crediting stringent security measures for a largely peaceful and process free of malpractice .The exam was held in two shifts at 1,053 centres across 74 districts, with elaborate arrangements ensuring smooth conduct. Officials said advanced monitoring systems, including biometric verification, photo matching and real-time digital surveillance, were deployed to curb impersonation, cheating and the use of unfair means.Authorities reported several arrests during the three-day exercise for offences such as forgery, impersonation and misuse of electronic devices. On April 27, two candidates—Chhotelal in Hapur and Vikram Singh in Fatehpur—were arrested for allegedly tampering with dates of birth on admit cards to create forged documents.In separate incidents, Amit Kumar in Aligarh and Dharampal Singh in Hathras were caught during biometric verification attempting impersonation. Earlier, on Apr 26, three persons, including an assistant teacher, were arrested at a centre in Kanpur Nagar for concealing prohibited electronic devices.In Etah, action was taken against a candidate for preparing fake admit cards, while in Bareilly, a candidate appearing at two centres under different identities was apprehended through biometric matching, officials said.
