The victim, Chabi Rani Debbarma (25), was reportedly murdered by her husband at her elder sister’s residence in Mudibari, Khowai, during the early hours of September 25, 1996, when he allegedly attacked her with an axe. The case had remained unsolved for 30 years before the court reached its decision. The Tripura Police attributed the successful conviction to the diligent work of then Sub Inspector Pranab Das of Khowai Police Station, who is currently serving as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic). The police underscored that this conviction reflects the force’s steadfast dedication to justice, emphasizing the significance of thorough investigations and the strategic application of forensic and evidentiary resources, even in cases that have been pending for a long time.
