Hisar: An organiser of a fair in Sirsa has approached police alleging that four people, including influencers, demanded money from him and threatened to repeatedly post negative and misleading content about the event on social media if he failed to pay.The complainant, Naresh, a resident of Rohtak, submitted the complaint at Khairpur police post on Sept 3, naming Yogesh Mudgil, Sukhpreet, Gurlal and Sanjana Rathore. Police subsequently registered a case under relevant Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to the FIR. Naresh said he was organising a fair at the GTM Ground on Hisar Road near Maharana Pratap Chowk and had obtained the required approvals and no-objection certificates from the SDM.According to his complaint, the accused had allegedly been putting pressure on him and threatening to publish negative posts about the fair if their demands were not met. The complainant alleged that Sanjana Rathore initially approached him offering to upload videos of the fair for Rs 2,000 per video. He said he agreed to three videos and paid Rs 4,000 online and Rs 2,000 in cash.He further alleged that she later approached him along with the other accused and demanded another Rs 30,000, claiming that she would “settle” the matter and ensure that nobody troubled him. Naresh said he subsequently transferred Rs 30,000 to her account.The complainant alleged that the demand was later raised to Rs 1.5 lakh. He claimed he was threatened with daily negative social-media posts concerning the fair if the money was not paid. Naresh told police that the alleged pressure was causing him mental distress and that attempts were being made to damage the reputation and business of the fair, which he claimed was being organised after obtaining the necessary approvals.Police said the allegations are being investigated and further action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe.
