JMC asks FIRs over illegal parking fee collection

Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Friday asked police to register FIRs against parking contractors and their employees for allegedly collecting fees from motorists after contracts expired at three sites in the Civil Lines zone. According to the orders issued by zone deputy commissioner Manohar Lal Jat, the parking contract outside a private office on Malviya Marg, held by Adinath Buildcon and operator Devendra Gurjar, expired on Aug 10. JMC took possession of the site the next day. However, Devendra Gurjar, Dheeraj Gurjar and Anugrah Bhadoria allegedly continued collecting parking fees. Ashok Nagar police have been asked to register an FIR. At the parking site behind Mall 21, on the drain, the contract held by Radha Rani Fashion, owned by Amit Sharma, expired on March 19. Its employees Arafat, Shadab and Sajan allegedly continued collecting fees. JMC has asked Vidhayakpuri police to take legal action. Similarly, the contract for the parking site outside Sangam Tower on Church Road, held by Hariom Agarwal, expired on Feb 25. His employees Sunil Gurjar and Himmat Singh Gurjar allegedly continued collecting fees. Vidhayakpuri police have also been directed to act. JMC said collecting parking fees after contract expiry was illegal and caused loss of govt revenue.
