Mumbai police bust fake call centre, FIR against 19 for Rs 14.8L con

Mumbai: Police busted a fake call centre and registered an FIR against 19 people. Police said the accused called potential targets, claiming that their firm had contracts with major e-commerce platforms and courier companies for handling logistics and was offering franchises nationally. They claimed that by investing a particular sum, their targets could get lifetime business from these e-commerce platforms and courier companies.The raid was carried out on Sept 2 at a commercial complex on Marve Road by Bangur Nagar Police. They came across 40 to 45 tele-callers seated in the office. The tele-callers were given scripts in English.Police said the accused had made franchise agreements with 22 individuals and cheated them of Rs 14.8 lakh. The FIR registered by Malad Police has invoked charges under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act.
