Chandigarh: Municipal corporation joint commissioner Inderjeet Thursday conducted a surprise inspection of the paid parking site near Empire Store Front in Sector 17 and ordered a series of measures to improve safety, cleanliness and visitor convenience.Accompanied by officials of the engineering and parking wings, Inderjeet reviewed arrangements at the site and directed departments concerned to address gaps in infrastructure and maintenance on priority.Officials were asked to ensure proper signage, adequate lighting, effective barricading and regular cleanliness at the parking facility. The joint commissioner also stressed the need to keep parking spaces earmarked for Divyang persons free from encroachments and obstructions.During the inspection, the public health wing was directed to repair damaged manhole and road-gully covers, while the horticulture wing was asked to undertake pruning and improve upkeep of the surrounding green belts.The civic body also ordered proper demarcation of auto and taxi stands, installation of additional dustbins and beautification of the area to enhance its overall appearance.Inderjeet directed all departments to ensure time-bound compliance and regular monitoring to maintain the parking site in a safe, organised and citizen-friendly condition.
