Gorakhpur: A 40-year-old man was shot at over a monetary dispute in Chauri Chaura area of Gorakhpur on Wednesday night. The victim, Durgesh Chaudhary, got injured and was admitted to a hospital.Police said the dispute stemmed from a financial transaction between Atul, a resident of Dangipar in Khorabar, and Ratan Lal Chaudhary of Dudi village. The two had reportedly been at odds over the repayment of money borrowed by Atul.On Wednesday night, a group of youths accompanied Atul to Dudi village to discuss the matter. During the meeting, an argument broke out between the two sides. Durgesh, a resident of Mahdeva Jungle and an associate of Atul, also arrived at the scene.As the confrontation escalated, one of the men allegedly opened fire. The bullet struck Durgesh in his hand and leg, triggering panic in the area. The attackers fled soon after the shooting.On being informed, police arrived and inspected the spot. The police took the injured to hospital.SP North Gyanendra Kumar said police teams are conducting raids at suspected hideouts and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
