Bengaluru landlord booked for not verifying credentials of 3 Bangladeshi tenants

Bengaluru: A routine police patrol led to the detection of three Bangladeshi nationals staying in a rented house in northeast Bengaluru without proper tenant verification.According to police, around 8pm on Aug 23, a patrol officer received information that GV Rekha, owner of a building in New Mico Layout, had rented out the second floor to Bangladeshi nationals without carrying out mandatory police or tenant verification.A police team visited the house and questioned the occupants, identified as Salma Begum, 26, Munna Faraji, 21, and Hafeezah, 19. Police said all three provided an address in Bagerhat district of Bangladesh.The tenants were directed to appear before police the following morning and were subsequently produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for verification.FRRO confirmed they were Bangladeshi nationals. Following the FRRO order, police filed a suo motu case against the property owner under the Foreigners Act. Investigation is in progress.
