Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra Thursday directed district units to submit reports on internal conflicts ahead of the urban local body elections, a day after an alleged assault on Bikaner city Congress president Madan Gopal Meghwal.The move comes amid growing friction over ticket distribution and delays in issuing party symbols in some constituencies. Party sources said differences between local politicians have complicated candidate selection in districts.In Bhilwara, differences between Congress ex-MLA Dheeraj Gurjar and former cabinet minister Ram Lal Jat created uncertainty over candidates and party symbols till the last moment. In Kota, a rift between former cabinet minister Shanti Dhariwal and Congressman Prahlad Gunjal has surfaced.The issue reached the party’s central leadership after Gunjal met Congress person Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Delhi Wednesday. “I have discussed everything with Priyanka ji, including the current state of affairs related to the elections,” Gunjal said.Factional differences have also emerged in Jaipur, where Congress MLAs Rafiq Khan and Amin Kagzi are reportedly at odds with Jaipur district president Sunil Sharma and former district president RR Tiwari.The leadership has sought details from district units to assess the disputes and resolve them before they affect the party’s electoral prospects. “The party is very keen to examine the issues that have surfaced and wants to provide a solution. The party has sought a report, which will be sent to the leadership in Delhi,” said Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi.
