Jind: A POCSO fast-track special court, presided over by additional sessions judge Shifa, has sentenced Gaurav, a Lath village resident, to 20 years in prison for luring a minor girl away from home and sexually assaulting her. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.15 lakh on the convict.On June 11, 2024, an FIR was registered at city police station of Jind district, after the minor girl went missing. The girl’s father reported that Gaurav lured his minor daughter and took her away with him.The police subsequently registered the FIR and began investigating the matter. After being rescued, the girl, in her statement to the police, stated that the accused had sexually assaulted her.Following a detailed investigation, city police station presented a chargesheet against Gaurav before the court.Based on the evidence and the statement of the minor girl, the court convicted the accused.
