Chandigarh: The Notified Area Committee (NAC) office in Manimajra is set to transition entirely to an online operating system for all public-dealing works, ending physical and manual processing of files and public cases.The Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) has initiated the digitisation exercise to cover all public dealings at the Manimajra office—including land, property, mutation, and related civic services—to deliver faster, hassle-free administrative services.The decision follows recurring public complaints regarding inordinate administrative delays caused by manual file processing. Under the new digital framework, strict timeframes will be established for every category of civic request to fix employee accountability.“In this new planned system of online dealing the public files, matters, services etc, the responsibility to deal the file will be fixed at every level and the concerned dealing employees or officers will have to deal the file in given time frame, failing which they will have to face the consequences,” MC sources stated. “The timeframe of each public work will be prepared as per the nature of the work, so that the concerned employee or officer get ample time to deal the file. But in case of unnecessary delay in the work, the concerned employee or officer will have to face the consequences.”Real-time supervisory accessThe digital portal is designed to allow senior municipal authorities to directly monitor operational timelines and track pending files in real time.“All the senior officers will have access through this online system to monitor the employees works,” sources noted.The IT department of the Chandigarh municipal corporation is executing the data conversion in coordination with the Manimajra office staff, who are actively transferring physical documents and records to launch the online system in the coming days.
