Train passenger gets back bag with valuables worth Rs 29L

Bengaluru: While deboarding a crowded train at KR Pura, a passenger did not realise that his bag, which contained valuables worth Rs 29 lakh, had been left behind on the train.Santosh, who was travelling by 16316 Thiruvananthapuram North-Mysuru Express, inadvertently left behind the bag in coach B3 while deboarding the train. One staffer on board the train alerted RPF about the bag, and Vijayalaxmi M Gudi, ASI, RPF, contacted on-duty staff. When the train arrived at KSR Bengaluru station’s platform no. 5, RPF personnel searched the coach and secured the unattended bag.Santhosh later arrived at the station along with family and approached RPF personnel. After identity verification and travel particulars, the recovered bag was shown to him.A relieved Santosh opened the bag and verified its contents. The recovered valuables included gold ornaments weighing 189 grams, laptop, Rs 53,240 cash, laptop bag and other accessories. The value of the ornaments was 27.1 lakh, Santosh said.
