Mumbai: Mumbai crime branch on Tuesday arrested a Nandurbar woman who allegedly cleared the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s (MPSC) drug inspector screening exam after the paper was leaked.Police said Rutuja Patil, the seventh accused in the case, deliberately gave 10 wrong answers during the exam to avoid raising suspicions. She is being brought to Mumbai and will be produced in court on Wednesday. Her father and her former boyfriend, who allegedly helped procure the questions and approached police after they broke up, were arrested earlier.MPSC cancelled the recruitment process for the posts last week and the exam is to be held afresh.Police searched the residences of some of the suspects in Nandurbar. Investigators are now scrutinising bank transactions, digital communication and other financial records to establish the money trail, identify those who paid for the leaked paper, and determine whether anyone, apart from Patil, benefited from the racket.Meanwhile, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, leading a large group of competitive exam aspirants, staged a protest outside the MPSC office in CBD-Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Pawar demanded the immediate resignation of MPSC chairperson Vivek Bhimanwar, saying he must take moral and administrative responsibility for failing to secure the MPSC exam. “Even as allegations of large-scale misconduct during his tenure as RTO commissioner hang over Bhimanwar, govt turned a blind eye to these irregularities solely because he is a friend of the chief minister and appointed him to this important position,” he alleged.
