Gurgaon: All villages under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation Manesar (MCM) will soon get uniform main entrance gates as part of the civic body’s village beautification programme, with the initiative beginning at Rampura village.Manesar mayor Inderjeet Kaur Yadav on Monday laid the foundation stone for the proposed entrance gate at Rampura, marking the start of the project. MCM plans to construct similar gateways in all villages under its jurisdiction, with an emphasis on uniformity, durability and aesthetics.Yadav said the gateways would not merely mark the entry points to the villages but would also give each village a distinct identity. “Villages are the foundation of our identity and culture. The corporation has been working continuously on the development and beautification of villages that have been brought under MCM,” she said.The initiative comes as the civic body seeks to improve appearance and infrastructure in villages following their inclusion in the corporation area. Roads, drinking water supply, sewerage, drainage, street lighting, sanitation and parks are among the works being taken up on a priority basis, according to the mayor.She directed officials to ensure that the Rampura gateway is built according to prescribed standards and that quality is maintained during construction. Residents also raised demands for additional development works in the village, following which officials were directed to examine them and take necessary action.The mayor said the gateways are expected to provide a visible component to MCM’s wider village development programme. The corporation has also appealed to residents to cooperate in maintaining the quality of development works being carried out in their villages.
