Hyderabad: Housing and Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday announced a major restructuring of state’s flagship Indiramma housing scheme, devolving greater authority to district collectors to speed up housing sanctions.He said special officers for each undivided district will be appointed to ensure better coordination between officials and elected representatives, and to pre-empt ground-level bottlenecks.“Even those who did not apply earlier can now apply, and if found eligible, will be sanctioned houses. District collectors have been instructed to hold weekly reviews with district housing officials,” he said, at a review meeting held along with ministers G Vivek and Jupally Krishna Rao, and officials.Stating that 3,500 houses have been sanctioned for each of the 119 assembly constituencies, he urged MLAs to take personal initiative to ensure construction is completed on schedule. “Wherever beneficiaries are unwilling to build houses, such units can be reassigned to other eligible individuals following due procedure,” the minister said.tnn
