6,091 emergencies keeps EMRI busy on Rakshabandhan day in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Rakshabandhan saw one of the busiest days for EMRI 108 in Gujarat, with the emergency service receiving 6,091 calls—roughly one every four minutes.A senior EMRI official said the service usually handles around 5,200 emergencies a day. ”The volume was 17.1% higher on Rakshabandhan day. Analysis shows that vehicular trauma or accidents accounted for the highest number of cases at 1,317, or roughly one in every six cases. It was followed by a spike in non-vehicular trauma (705), high fever (468), and severe headache (46) cases. While vehicular trauma was 138% compared to normal days, other heads showed spike of 20% to 26%,” said the official.A decline was recorded in cases involving convulsions, stroke, abdominal pain, pregnancy-related emergencies and cardiac issues, officials said.
