Sonipat: Sonipat police have arrested two suspects in connection with the Aug 23 murder of Narendra Khatri in Kundli, while announcing a ₹1 lakh reward for information leading to the arrest of the prime accused, Aman Yadav.Investigators initially linked the killing in Piau Manihari to an argument over two scooters crossing each other, but now suspect a pre-planned attack. ACP Rai Malkit Singh stated that Narendra stepped in to resolve an argument between his associates and Aman Yadav, which escalated until Yadav allegedly opened fire, killing Narendra on the spot.CCTV footage and inputs revealed that 15 to 20 youths, some consuming alcohol, assembled at a DJ shop in Kundli shortly before the shooting on Yadav’s instructions. Investigators are examining whether Yadav—who was building a local network of 20 to 25 youths to act as a gang leader—planned the attack with them.Police arrested Umesh of Bulandshahr and Ankush of Baghpat (both residing in Paper Mill Colony, Kundli). Umesh, who was allegedly present at the scene carrying a knife, was remanded in police custody for five days to recover the weapon, while Ankush is currently undergoing interrogation.While the initial FIR named three accused based on a statement by the victim’s brother, ongoing probes suggest 15 to 20 others may be linked to the crime. Prime suspect Aman Yadav, originally from Bihar, worked as a driver in Delhi before fleeing the crime scene.Yadav faces seven prior criminal charges, including robbery and attempt to murder, with three registered in Sonipat district. Multiple police teams are conducting raids to locate him.“Investigators have gathered substantial leads regarding Aman’s whereabouts and are confident of apprehending him soon,” said ACP Malkit Singh, adding that authorities have initiated correspondence to verify and scrutinise properties linked to the accused for further action.
