Bengaluru: National Security Guard (NSG) has commenced a month-long specialised training programme for around 500 Karnataka police personnel, aimed at strengthening their preparedness to tackle terrorism, security breaches and other critical emergencies.The training will cover several specialised operational areas, including counter-terrorist interventions, counter-drone operations, unarmed combat (Krav Maga), close protection, sniper training, tactical hostage negotiations, K9 operations, counter-IED operations, tactical driving and bomb disposal. The programme is designed to enhance the operational capabilities of police personnel drawn from various operational and support units across the state. As first responders during emergencies, police personnel are often the first to reach an incident site, secure the area, protect civilians and contain threats until specialised forces arrive.The training programme was inaugurated by chief minister DK Shivakumar on Friday at Manekshaw Parade Ground, where NSG demonstrated its capabilities across various operational domains at MG Road Metro station, Barton Centre and other places. The month-long training will be held at different locations in the city. Most of the police personnel from Bengaluru City, Internal Security Division (ISD) and district police are going to be trained.
