NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old student and model, identified as Muskan, was allegedly stabbed to death inside her second-floor home in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar on Wednesday evening, with police suspecting the involvement of her former gym trainer, Imran.Muskan was reportedly alone at home when Imran allegedly entered the house, attacked her multiple times with a knife and fled. Hearing her cries for help, neighbours rushed to the residence and found her seriously injured and lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.Police received a PCR call about the incident and have launched a search for the accused. “We are searching for the culprit,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Gupta told reporters, adding that CCTV footage from the surrounding area was being examined.A senior police officer said, “A woman, around 21 years of age, was stabbed to death when she was alone at her residence. CCTV footage is being examined and police investigation is under way.”The police have formed multiple teams to trace Imran and are also scanning Muskan’s phone for possible leads. Investigators have raided the gym where Imran worked and his home, besides questioning his family members and friends.Police said Muskan and Imran had known each other for around one-and-a-half years. Some relatives and neighbours told investigators that Imran was frequently seen in the locality and had allegedly been pursuing Muskan, who was suspected to have rejected him.Muskan’s friend Aman said she was the youngest of three sisters. One of her elder sisters, who is currently in Chandigarh, allegedly called him after learning about the attack and asked him to rush to Muskan’s home.“I received a call, but I don’t remember the exact time. They told me they were not at home and that someone had entered the house and stabbed Muskan,” Aman said.He said he immediately contacted another friend and asked him to reach the house and ensure Muskan received medical attention. By the time he arrived, an ambulance had reached the spot and taken her to hospital.Aman also alleged that Muskan’s sisters had earlier raised concerns about Imran allegedly harassing her.“He had troubled her earlier as well, and after this incident, suspicion immediately fell on him,” Aman said. The gym where Imran had worked also came under police scrutiny. Dimpal, a receptionist at Seven Zone Fitness Destination, said Imran had left the job around one to two months ago after complaints about his conduct.“His way of talking was not appropriate, and after that, he was fired. It has been 1–2 months since he left the job. There was nothing between them here. Yes, he tried to talk to her once or twice, but he was told to stop, and then everything was fine,” Dimpal said. The murder has triggered tension in the locality as Muskan and the accused belong to different faiths. Heavy police deployment has been put in place to prevent any untoward incident.Muskan’s body has been preserved at a mortuary and will undergo a postmortem on Thursday morning. Police are continuing their investigation and efforts are underway to arrest Imran.
