Kolkata: Hastings cops have launched a probe following the theft of four mobile phones belonging to members of a theatre group from a makeup room at Sisir Mancha on Aug 23. The incident prompted the group to approach cops after the venue authorities failed to provide assistance.According to a complaint lodged by Arghyadeep Banerjee, secretary of Barrackpore Karubash Theatre Group, immediately following the conclusion of their first play, three female performers returned to the makeup room around 7 pm and discovered their bags had been tampered with. Four phones — two belonging to Ritoshree Banerjee and one each to Sneha Ghosh and Srijoni Majumder — were missing. The venue management disowned responsibility for the security lapse.
