Gurgaon: Supreme Court has declared the ‘right to walk’ a fundamental right, but every day pedestrians die in road accidents in the city.In the latest incident, a 47-year-old man, Vishram Singh, died on Monday, a day after being hit by a speeding car while crossing a road in Bhondsi. Singh, a resident of Jagatpur village in Uttar Pradesh, was staying as a tenant in Binola, Manesar.According to a complaint filed by his nephew, Kaushal Kishor, “He had gone for some work to Bhondsi on Sunday and was hit by a silver-coloured car while crossing the road.” He was taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to PGI Rohtak, where he died during treatment on Monday.A case has been registered at Bhondsi police station under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (1) (causing death due to negligence).In another incident, the body of a man who is suspected to be a hit-and-run victim was found lying on Sohna-Palwal Road near a petrol pump on Monday.A passerby, Mukesh Yadav, informed the police, “When I reached my office on Sohna-Palwal Road around 8 am, I noticed a body lying on the unpaved road in front of the office.” According to Yadav, the body was bare with the face covered with a vest. He appeared to have sustained injuries in an accident.Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of BNSS and registered a case for rash driving and causing death due to negligence.
